Description
The mXT336UD-MAU002 2.0 uses a unique charge-transfer acquisition engine to implement Microchip’s patented capacitive
sensing method. Coupled with a state-of-the-art CPU, the entire touchscreen sensing solution can measure, classify and track a
number of individual finger touches with a high degree of accuracy in the shortest response time. The mXT336UD-MAU002 2.0
allows for both mutual and self capacitance measurements, with the self capacitance measurements being used to augment the
mutual capacitance measurements to produce reliable touch information.

The ATMXT336UD touchscreen controller includes two families aimed at display sizes up to 7-inch:
General industrial applications (with device encryption): mXT336UD 2.0 and mXT228UD
Home Appliances (with IEC/UL 60730 Class B functional safety certification): mXT336UD-HA, mXT228UD-HA, and mXT112UD-HA
Proprietary differential touch sensing delivers unparalleled noise immunity ensuring superior touch performance even in harsh environments. It enables detection and tracking of multi-finger thick gloved touch through a wide variety of overlay materials and thicknesses, even in the presence of moisture, water and even salt water. This SNR combined with a high acquisition speed provides a fast, accurate and reliable a touch position. The controller also incorporates a new self and sensor diagnostic function, which constantly monitors the integrity of the touch system.
The general industrial mXT336UD family includes device encryption. This feature set supports encrypted messaging of the touch coordinates to the host CPU over I2C to help protect confidential credit card payment pin code, alarm/door entry codes, or medical/gaming device admin codes. Encrypted configuration locks the touch controller tuning parameters enabling OEMs to protect device certifications with a unique project-based customer password. Finally, the encrypted configuration feature also allows maXTouch touch sensor module partners to protect their proprietary tuning methods and prevent touch setting cloning.
The mXT336UD HA family is aimed at the home appliance market where Functional Safety is required. This device is IEC/UL 60730 Class B certified and offers unique safety-related features that enable system shut off through an intuitive soft button on a touchscreen, removing the requirement for an external safety certified stop or cancel button and associated microcontroller (MCU). They also allow an appliance to detect a touchscreen or appliance failure and shut down automatically through a variety of self-test capabilities.
Support: off the shelf maXTouch standard modules are available to help shorten development time and reduce risk. Microchip also has a strong selection of factory trained global touch sensor module partners to help support custom touch sensor and/or touchscreen display designs.
